Uskudar
Every area in Istanbul has a unique story and tales that dazzle the minds. One of these areas is Üsküdar, the exceptional area that constitutes visitors' gateway to the Asian continent, with its stunning views of the Bosphorus Strait. Üsküdar is one of the oldest and most attractive areas of the city, with its beautiful historical landmarks and exquisite urban style, including palaces, mosques, and archaeological monuments, which witnessed the Greek and Ottoman eras.
Üsküdar is on the Asian side of Istanbul, in a valley open to the sea and surrounded by hills that fall on the Bosphorus Strait. On that Asian side, Üsküdar meets Kadıköy, Ümraniye, and Beykoz, which are the favorite areas for visitors to historic Istanbul.
The Beautiful Scenes of Üsküdar
Üsküdar includes many famous places as a tourist center at the gates of the Asian continent, and among these places:
- Çamlıca Hill (Çamlıca Tepesi): This hill is one of the most famous and highest hills in Istanbul, overlooking most parts of the city. The hill is an attractive resting place with several cafes and restaurants that welcome visitors and tourists. It also has turned into a landmark and a popular haven known to the city's residents. Known also as the Hill of Brides, the hill hosts mainly lovers and wedding planners to take memorial photos with their loved ones and form an eternal memory.
- The Maiden's Tower (Kız Kulesi): The Maiden's Tower is situated near the beach/coast of Üsküdar with a few restaurants inside it that can be accessed via a spiral staircase.
- Many are the stories that have been told about the origin of the tower and its maiden; nevertheless, the sun still sets on the tower to this day with its magic oscillating between myth and reality.
- KidZania Istanbul: The first and favorite destination for children in Istanbul, KidZania. This small center is a game city that provides children with an entertaining atmosphere with dozens of different activities in a massive area. The city also offers miniature buildings such as hospitals, police stations, restaurants, and drawing houses in order to develop children's motor, physical, and social skills through a live and direct experience. Here, children play the role of adults such as delivering food, taking the role of a doctor in operations, a firefighter, a veterinarian, a gas station attendant, or an accountant in a store.
- Beylerbeyi Palace: This palace is one of the favorite palaces of the Sultans of the Ottoman Empire for its wonderful view of the Bosphorus Strait. The palace was built on the orders of Sultan Abdul Aziz and was established with the aim of using it as a resort for the Ottoman Sultans and a government institution to host foreign rulers and statesmen. The palace includes two floors built on a high basement above a vast area with 24 rooms, 6 halls, and a Turkish bath.
- Akasya Mall Istanbul: This largest commercial center was built on an area of 80.000m2 to create a magnificent architectural masterpiece, stationed on the road linking the Asian and European parts of Üsküdar. As well as being a global shopping center, the mall has a cinema hall, magic shows, and various musical performances, with apartments, offices, two gardens, and a games complex.
